Shale Gas
Shale gas is natural gas that is found trapped within shale formations. Shale gas has become an increasingly important source of natural gas in the United States since the start of this century, and interest has spread to potential gas shales in the rest of the world. It is one of several types of unconventional gas, which, unlike the production of conventional gas resources, requires the rock to be fractured to allow natural gas to escape from the low-permeability rock and flow through the wellbore to the surface.Purpose of Desulfurization
Similar to other gases, there's also hydrogen sulfide which is poisonous containing in the shale gas. Hydrogen sulfide can seriously corrode equipment and pipelines. Inhalation of trace amounts of hydrogen sulfide can cause disability and endanger life. Therefore, hydrogen sulfide must be removed before it can be used as a clean energy source.The most common method in dry desulfurization is iron oxide desulfurization. By passing the feed gas through the desulfurizer bed at room temperature, the H2S in the feed gas contacts the active iron oxide to generate iron sulfide and ferrous sulfide. When the sulfur content of the outlet gas exceeds the standard, the desulfurizer should be replaced with new ones.
The used desulfurizer can be regenerated, but considering the quality of the regenerated desulfurizer, regeneration cost, regeneration conditions, and other factors, regeneration is generally not recommended. If the customer insists on regeneration, he must strictly follow the operation manual and control the regeneration conditions.
