Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic gas second only to cyanide. Its molecular formula is H2S. At low concentrations, it smells of rotten eggs and is highly toxic. Hydrogen sulfide is a flammable and hazardous chemical. It can form an explosive mixture when mixed with air, which can cause combustion and explosion in case of an open fire and high heat energy.
H2S gas not only seriously threatens people's life safety and pollutes the environment but also causes serious corrosion damage to metal equipment and tools. Therefore, the removal of hydrogen sulfide is very important!Desulfurization is a chemical process for the removal of sulfur from a material. This involves either the removal of sulfur from a molecule (e.g. A=S → A:) or the removal of sulfur compounds from a mixture such as biogas, methane, and oil refinery streams. These processes are of great industrial and environmental importance as they provide the bulk of sulfur used in industry, sulfur-free compounds that could otherwise not be used in a great number of catalytic processes, and also reduce the release of harmful sulfur compounds into the environment, particularly sulfur dioxide (SO2) which leads to acid rain, and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) which leads to poison, even death.
Dry desulfurization system is a kind of standard equipment we designed and produced. According to the content of H2S in gas, the actual content of gas, the life cycle of absorbent, and other relevant data, we will specially design the system structure for customers. If you have fixed the dimensions and internal structure, we're also able to manufacture it according to your design drawings.
The most common method in dry desulfurization is iron oxide desulfurization. By passing the feed gas through the desulfurizer bed at room temperature, the H2S in the feed gas contacts the active iron oxide to generate iron sulfide and ferrous sulfide. When the sulfur content of the outlet gas exceeds the standard, the desulfurizer should be replaced with new ones.
The used desulfurizer can be regenerated, but considering the quality of the regenerated desulfurizer, regeneration cost, regeneration conditions, and other factors, regeneration is generally not recommended. If the customer insists on regeneration, he must strictly follow the operation manual and control the regeneration conditions.

The history of iron oxide desulfurizer was first developed and used by European and American countries, and it was originally used for the removal of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas in coal gas. The initial desulfurizers were less efficient, with a sulfur capacity between 5% and 6%, and low porosity. Through continuous improvement and tackling, the quality of iron oxide desulfurizer has been continuously improved, and the sulfur capacity has been gradually increased.
